2010 Recap

During 2010, the Horizon Drive District continued its commitment to invest in the growth and improvement of the District.   The District’s accomplishments include:

  1. Completed the Horizon Drive/I-70 Gateway Beautification Project, in partnership with the City of Grand Junction
  2. Formalized relationship with City for on-going maintenance of the Gateway
  3. Identified Mission Statement and Vision Commitment for the District
  4. Conducted national search and engaged District Representative
  5. Identified the goals and priorities of the District for the next three years
  6. Resolved revenue/taxation questions with State 

Additionally, the Horizon Drive District initiated focused discussions with community leaders.  These discussions are critical to the success of the HDD and have included Mayor Teresa Coons, City Manager Laurie Kadrich, Debbie Kovalik of the Grand Junction Visitors Bureau, Heidi Hoffman Ham of the Downtown Development Authority and Rex Tippetts of Grand Junction Regional Airport.  Additionally, the HDD has received interest from private property owners outside the District pursuing the possibility of joining the District in the future.   As a result of the 2010 ‘listening and discussion’ initiative, the District strategic plan is taking shape.  

Discussions will continue to be held with various leaders within the community, to align the District’s interests within the broader community of Grand Junction, Colorado.
